I opened LaBarber Clinic in Atlanta, GA in 1985 upon graduating from the Georgia Institute of Electrolysis, holding membership with the American Electrolysis Association, the Georgia Electrolysis Association, and the International Electrolysis Guild. As a native of Milwaukee, I returned to Wisconsin as Staff Electrologist for the Eau Claire Institute of Electrolysis. I bring 27 years of expert knowledge and proven results to my new location located in the Brownstones shopping center in Brookfield.

A safe, permanent, method of hair removal, Electrolysis can be applied to most facial and body areas and is effective on all skin and hair types.  Temporary methods of hair removal will often stimulate more unwanted hair growth.  Laser hair removal is hair reduction and is NOT PERMANENT.  Electrolysis is the only FDA and medically proven method of permanent hair removal.

Electrolysis is a simple procedure that is performed by inserting a thin filament device into the hair follicle. A tap on a foot pedal sends a short burst of heat into the follicle cauterizing the growing part of the hair, known as the hair bulb or papilla. The destruction of the papilla seals off the follicle and thwarts any new growth of hair. For a number of different reasons, certain hairs may require more than one treatment. It is not uncommon for treatments to last over a period of time in order to permanently remove unwanted hair.

The duration of Electrolysis varies significantly with each individual depending on the speed of each client’s hair cycle. There are women who come for a visit as frequently as twice a week and there are those who come twice a month. For some, two visits a year is all that’s needed.

With time and consistent treatments the hair cycle slows down and so does the frequency of visits. Each session takes between 15 minutes to a 1 hour long depending on your specific need.

Yes, Electrolysis is approved by the American Medical Association, and is practiced by a licensed professional in compliance with the Wisconsin state board of barbering and cosmetology. I use state of the art sterilizing equipment including disposable probes to provide you with maximum protection.

Sensitivity levels vary with each individual.Clients have described their experience in various ways, from the sensation of a “pin-prick” to “nothing at all” and everything in between.

Of course! If you have unwanted hair, men and women alike will benefit from Electrolysis.

Many men find Electrolysis a wonderful solution specifically for the shaping of their eyebrows and the clearing of that little space between their eyebrows. Over the years many of my clients have been men and most of them have come to see me for this purpose. It is common, it is natural and it is confidential. Men are welcome!

Reddening of the skin occurs during or immediately after the treatment, which normally lasts only for a short time.

Both methods of hair removal have their advantages and limitations. Electrolysis and Laser go hand in hand, and depending on your specific situation either one can be helpful. Laser is a newer method which continues to evolve, and is geared to treat large areas of the body and large amounts of hair. However, it will not treat blond, gray or white hair, it will not treat hair on the eyebrows, and will not be effective treating dark skin or the type of skin which tends to pigment with exposure to sun.

Electrolysis can treat any hair any where, as well as any skin color.

If you have the right combination of skin and hair color, I recommend Laser for the treatment of large areas and more dense growth such as the legs, arms, bikini lines, and in some cases chin and neck.

I recommend Electrolysis for the treatment of any hair anywhere — specifically for the treatment of gray and blond hair, for skin shades that cannot risk pigmentation, for hair on the eyebrow, nipples, upper lips, in short, for hair everywhere — no matter what color, shape, age or gender you might be.
